Inaugural Meeting of FOGL – Friday 7th

Inaugural Meeting of FOGL – Friday 7th
December 2007

Minutes

The meeting started at approximately 6pm with 14 people attending. Elva Salter was in the chair.
· Betty Johnston was invited to give a brief report on the background to JLSAC and the outcomes of its first few meetings this year. Discussion arose regarding FOGL’s role in terms of communicating with committee and how we might disseminate important information to members of FOGL. It was generally decided that one or more of us needs to be present at every JLSAC meeting.
· Di van Sommers was invited to give a brief report on the historical background and formation of FOGL. This was informative for the few new people attending the meeting.
· The meeting was invited to give any reports available regarding the Library Day of Action. It emerged that the event had been less than successful or widely supported. There was much discussion as to why this may have been the case. It was decided that the issues are important enough for FOGL to continue to be involved and to find out more about any on-going campaign.
· The meeting welcomed Robyn Owens from Ryde Council, and thanked her for attending and taking an interest in our group.
· Members were invited to nominate as working committee members of FOGL. All the interim committee declared an interest in continuing, and was joined by Betty Johnston and Akhteruz Zaman. The full committee then consists of Di van Sommers, Betty Johnston, Elva Salter, Graham Weule, Chaya Pathirage, Philip Howe and Akhteruz Zaman. Thanks were given to all these members for their efforts.
· Committee members were asked, if possible, to attend a meeting with Margaret Kelly (Hunters Hill Council) on Monday at 2pm for some forward planning of the 2008 Library Festival activities.
· The formal meeting concluded and a celebratory drinks and food were consumed. The meeting overall concluded at approximately 7.45pm.
