The Toni Morrison Society congratulates Toni Morrison for receiving The Presidential Medal of Freedom! The 2012 recipients of the Presidential Medal were announced on Wednesday, April 26th, by the White House. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award in the United States. It recognizes individuals who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."
